Original Text:

וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַיִּקְרָא אֶת שְׁמוֹ גֵּרְשֹׁם כִּי אָמַר גֵּר הָיִיתִי בְּאֶרֶץ נָכְרִיָּה:

Translation:

She (Zipporah) bore a son whom he (Moses) named Gershom, for he said, "I have been a stranger in a foreign land."

1. Why did Moses name his son after his experience as a stranger? Why was it such a defining experience for him?
